Sophia College, located in Plainland, Queensland, is a contemporary Catholic secondary school that embraces the Franciscan charism and a commitment to Laudato Si’. This year the college has completed the Stage 3 buildings to accommodate its growing population. This phase includes a six-room innovation hub purposefully designed to open into one large space or to be used as individual classrooms. The hub will provide a space for Design, SET, Aerospace, Digital Technology, Furnishings and Engineering.
As the Foundation Principal, Narelle Dobson has played a key role in shaping Sophia College. She leads with a deep commitment to Franciscan values, ensuring that students develop a sense of belonging, purpose, and responsibility. Her leadership emphasises excellence in teaching and learning, with research-based practices that support student growth.
Mrs Dobson shared that “the development of these new learning spaces provides opportunities for the delivery of a holistic education that nurtures the academic, spiritual, and personal growth of every student. I believe that each student in an individual who embraces learning in their own unique way as they aspire to be more”.
